I don't know how to start!

I have been having some medical issues lately.  We don't know what it is slowly checking things off the list of possibilities.  I honestly feel that the problem is weight related.  I want to lose weight!  I was losing weight and then I had a bad few weeks and my surgery. Before I knew it I had gained back 9lbs of the 20 something I have lost. My doctor was none to happy about it!  She told me I have to get my sugar under control. I told her I want to have Weight loss surgery and she is all for it...... she will do whatever it takes to help me get it done, but I don't know where to start.  I know my insurance has started to pay for the surgery but I don't know how to start.  How long is it going to take!  What is my first move.

Any of you WLS ladies out there have advice for me.  I can't afford to pay for the surgery myself so I have to find a way.  HELP!!!

Ten Things Thursday

Decided to do a Ten Things Thursday courtesy of LauraBelle and the fact that my last couple of posts have been a little Debbie Downer : (

1.  I am going camping this weekend......yay! I am so excited!!!!  We are doing a mini olympic theme for the kids where each mom will be in charge of an event and the kids will get medals and prizes and treats.  It is going to be so much fun.

2. My dad helped me patch his little 3 man raft last night.  Fingers crossed the patches hold and we don't sink.  The best part (especially knowing my dad) when we started to inflate the boat we realized that the screw in plug was missing.  My dad being the inventive soul that he is wasn't going to let that stop him from making this work.  So he brought this out......

yes that is a cork, (as in once shoved in a bottle to keep from letting wine out of the bottle and then) wrapped in black electric tape.  Genious! no?   Hell if it keeps us from sinking to the bottom of Yuba lake I am game.  Now don't get me wrong, I will attempt to stop at a few stores to find a "real" replacement but it worked in a pinch and it will screw right into the hole.  My dad......

3. John is back from Australia for a while it seems.  A little girl I live with is beyond excited for this.  It was perfect because we were driving down the canyon one afternoon and she said "I hope buddy get's back so we can go for our motorcycle ride to see the fall colors before they are all gone" (yes the leaves are already changing) then she burst into tears.  That night on Skype she found out he was coming home in 3 days. She burst into tears again.

4. We took 5 tweens to Lagoon (local amusement park) from open 11am to close 11pm,.  I slept until 9:30 and my child slept until I woke her up around 1:30pm the next day.  It was a lot of fun but holy hell we were exhausted..... I missed my girl friends bridal shower because my brain was clogged up from....well okay I am a suckmaster friend and forgot until it was to late : (

5. I decided to trim my Pekingese, by myself, with clippers! let's just say it is a good thing she doesn't have regular public appearances because it would be shameful.....yes shameful indeed.  I think she would agree however that having 2 lbs of hair removed is cooler though.

6. Oh crap I almost forgot to share the most amazing thing that happened last time we were at my dad's cabin.  A little back story...My dad has a cow moose that has generation-ally  brought in a baby calf (or two) over the last 20 years, he keeps fresh water and a salt lick available to them, it is also very secluded where you can only see them if you are sitting on the front porch. They usually come in the very early morning and most the time he is the only one that sees them because we are lazy asses and still asleep. So we are sitting on the porch chilling out about 4 in the afternoon and my dad says "oh shhhh look" and points behind me.  I turn around and see this.......

2 huge Bull Moose
You can see the water and salt, dad keeps for them.

This is at the back of my dad's cabin. About 20 feet from where we were watching!

These bad boys hung out there for about 45 minutes.  At one point one got really close, he was munching his way towards us and then looked up and saw me and jerked back a ways. Nature in all its glory!

7. Another thing that we do at dad's cabin is drink beer shoot guns at target's off the porch.  You can see one of the targets in the first picture of the moose. Usually when the grand kids are there dad let's them shoot the single shot bb gun and pellet gun.  This time Kodie was the only kid there and dad brought out his .22 pistol and rifle well now my daughter is saving her money to buy a .22. I have a future gun lover on my hands. She was so cute. every time she heard the ping ping of the bullet hitting the target her smile just got bigger.

8. I have signed Kodie up for Hunter Safety to get her blue card and teach her SAFETY with guns.  I figure if she is going to want to shoot them then she is going to know all about them.  She is the same age my brother was when he and I took Hunter Safety.  She is excited.

9. I am so excited we are going camping this weekend...... oh did I already say that?

10. Well that is all I have!  Enjoy the hell out of the "last official summer" weekend.

xoxoxoTeri......

What are your plans?

An appendicitis

Guess where I have been? oh what the title was a clue?

That's right ladies and gentlemen.  I had emergency surgery last week.  Son of a biscuit when your appendix decides it no longer wants to be a part of your body it makes sure to let you know.

I was awakened at 4 am with the beginning of the pain I went to work and by 3 pm I was in a lot of pain.  I tried to make a dr's appointment but my doctor is out of town they recommended I go to insta-care.  Since the hospital is closer to me I decided to go to the ER instead.  Five hours and many tests later I was informed that I would need to have my appendix out ASAP.  Yay me!!!

So now here I sit with an ice pack on one of my incisions and hoping the kind surgeon will refill the good drugs to get me through a couple of days. Oh yes and the lovely drugs have caused the onslaught of a yeast infection.  So now not only do the healing incisions itch so do my lady bits!  Yay me!

The timing of this loveliness couldn't have come at a better time.  My sister from Vegas has been here with her kids all summer, this was the last weekend until her family goes home.  Her husband flew in for the week and my brother (also from Vegas) drove in for the weekend so my mom planned for family pictures. This was scheduled 3 months ago.  My mom when I told her I had to have surgery first words were good thing it is a minor surgery so you will be able to have pictures on Sunday.  So yes folks this girl was at the park yesterday for 2 plus hours in the heat having her sparkly whites photographed for prosperity. No one could believe that my mother insisted on going through with it.

All and all it has been ok but I will say support wise I have never felt like such an inconvenience in my entire life.  When I called my mom to tell her they were releasing me from the hospital she asked me "will you be ready when I get there, or will I have to come up to your room and get you?" I was thinking sure mom I will just ask them to roll me out the front door.

Maybe I am selfish, maybe I am a total bitch, but I don't think it was to much to ask of my family to stop in and say hi.  When my mom and sister showed up on Thursday evening they walked in the door and said "we are here to get your car" I asked them where my daughter was and was told "we were out shopping and came straight here, sorry she really wanted to see you too".  My mom was pissed because I wanted to be home in my own bed when I was released from the hospital instead of going to her house with 13 people there (her house is maybe 1500 sq. feet)..... mmm relaxing eh!

The most ironic part of the entire thing is my mom had carpel tunnel surgery on both her wrists 2 months ago when my sister arrived.  I took half a day off of work to take her to and from the surgical center. She has been on short term disability since and is just going back to work tomorrow.  So she had 2 months to recover with my sister living there taking care of her every need until she was able to start picking things up again.

I enjoyed my family yesterday and I think the pictures will turn out really cute.  I am happy to be home today and have my daughter home with me.

Hope you all had a great weekend and a fabulous Monday!

Probably TMI

I have a question.

I have had the weirdest freaking period that I can remember in the history of my reoccurring visits from Aunt Flo. I started mildly spotting more like sliming around June 26th.  This was on and off for a few days. Then this last Monday still slime/spotting I felt a gush and went to the bathroom and sure enough a blob of goo and gunk.  Then for the next two days regular style then yesterday afternoon back to very light slime.  Got home last night and had the gushing feeling again and yep like a puddle..... and along with all this I have had some of the worst cramps ever, not like child birth cramps but bad.  I have also been nauseous.

Is it a phase?
Did I just drop my last egg?
Did both ovaries drop one at the same time?
It is impossible that I was pregnant unless through immaculate conception.
Is it my bio-clock ticking telling me you don't have much time if you ever want another kid.  I am 36, I have been feeling baby hungry but I am in no position to bring a kid into this world right now.  I figure I should have 5 years or so if I met someone and we wanted to start over with the family thing.

I am very happy with the gorgeous amazing daughter that I have been blessed to have in my life.  I don't know what is wrong with me.  My finances are a disaster, my house is messier than it has ever been, I have no motivation to keep it clean and because it is so small it is hard to organize.  I need to get rid of a ton of stuff.  I haven't been eating and when I do I eat crap! I have never had a snickers bar for dinner in my life until this week.  I realize that this could be depression but I am already on meds and if I went to talk to someone I don't know what I would say.

and all that crap is probably what is causing my period to be all psycho!

I have been feeling just so humdrum lately.  There is no one that can fix it but me! I am not sure what to do or where to start.

Well that is my situation any suggestions?

Ten Things Thursday

hello out there in Bloggy land. Today is Thursday which is my Friday....woohoo!  Today's post is brought to because of the lovely LauraBelle.  Hope you enjoy!

1. Today is my sisters birthday and tomorrow she is headed to Utah with her 4 rugrats for the summer.  If you can believe it she has 4 boys....yikers, but I can't wait to gobble them up!

I mean look at that face how could you not want to gobble!

My sister and her family oh and Minnie Mouse too!
2. I love when my sister is in town cause she lets my daughter hang out with her and her kids at my moms house while I have to be at the icky no fun place that provides a paycheck!

3. I was a little late for work this morning because I wanted to stay home and be lazy.

4. If you want to laugh out loud you need to go read Draz's 2nd post of the day. It is about killer attack spiders. Right after I read it I was talking to someone and a black spider fell from the ceiling on its web right behind his back.  When it started to climb back up he splattered it though so we are safe for another day!

5. I am planning to go to the farmer's market this weekend.  It is opening weekend and I am sure there will be lots of crazy people things to see.  Plus I am hoping to get some tomatoes and some yummy artisan bread.

6. My daughter got royally screwed over by the Girl Scout Cookie lady in charge of our area.  She changed the numbers that we put in for our totals because they didn't "look" fair.  Hey dumb ass why don't you call and ask the actual people in charge of the freggin troop for an explanation.  My daughter and another girl in the troop set a goal to sell 1000 boxes of cookies.  They and their wonderful mothers worked their tails off.  They each participated in 8 of the 9 cookie booths we had plus both sold almost 500 boxes in pre sales.  This psycho b@*&h took it upon herself to change their numbers so they ended up with credit for 750 boxes instead..... needless to say there is nothing we can do at this point so we are done.  Next year GS can suck it!!!!!

7. It is 5:00 pm and it is my Friday, 3 glorious days off until I get the honor of doing it all over again.

8. I am going home to take my puppies potty!
bad picture but ehh, I will get a better one next time

9. Then I am going to make myself a nice cold beverage!

10. My kiddo is having a sleep over so I am going to watch whatever I want on t.v. and maybe?? I will clean my house???

Have a great weekend, go read Laura's blog and Drazil's blog or they apparently will fart skittles at you?  (this is a trick I must learn)!

WTFartblossoms Wednesday!

Well it is becoming the weekly tradition it seems.  I know I enjoy the hell out of reading everyone else's so I figured why not.

So here's to drazi and laurabelle!

WhyTF is the weather forecasting crap weather for the 1st long weekend since what? President's day.  I want to go camping......waaaa.

WhyTF does my looney supervisor think she needs to have her nose (and fingers and toes and ass) in everyone's damn business.  Drives me and everyone else crazy.  She is told about a task that needs to be done and takes her sweet time getting it done (or not) so they move on to have someone else get it done and she flips out.  Can't win for losing.  Stupid witch if you would have done it or delegated it in the first place you wouldn't have to get your panties in a wad.

WhatTF ever I am still going camping this weekend.  Gonna tent it baby (and pray to the heavens that the weather forecaster people are WRONG!!!) I am headed home tonight to plan our meals.  If it rains I will get to find out if I really am made out of sugar after all.....lol!

So there you go a little mid-week venting is quite revitalizing!

How about any of you, what are you plans for the long Memorial day weekend?

Dilemma

I had some friends. My daughter had friends within this group of friends. I haven't talked to these people since last June other than one minor run in. Now all of a sudden my daughter wants to hang out with the daughter of one of these people. I don't know what to do.  I don't want my daughter around the mom much because she is kind of degrading about looks and having the best of everything (not because I don't trust her or feel she would harm my daughter, I happen to know she adores my child) I doubt the mom wants her daughter around me....(probably feels the same about me, we parent very different but I love her daughter and she knows it) not sure.
There is a neutral location because I still think the little's girls dad is pretty good.  I know his kids always come first.

How do I make my desires known that they can only hang out if they are with me or the dad of the little girl? I have told my daughter my wishes and I really tried to discourage her from rekindling any kind of relationship. Do I let her go to the mom's house? (I know she is safe I just don't know what she will say about me to my kid, I would never say anything about her to her daughter.)

Should I just say NO?
A guy at work says this is when you have to step up and parent and not try to be your childs friend and make a decision.

I am looking for help, any recommendations.  Luckily I have another week to worry about it because of schedule conflicts but I know it is going to come up again.

HELP!

I want to blog but what to say? Copy Laura Belle?

I guess I could do a Ten things Thursday.....ok why not.

1- I am sooooo sick of sitting at Girl Scout Cookies booths prostituting ourselves  to sell out the last of our cookies so we will break even and not owe money.  And this people is why I haven't purchased a single box of cookies....I can't stand seeing them in my house.  Crazy huh.  Oh and you should have seen us out on the road at a freakin carwash on Saturday when the wind ripped the sign away from the girls and I had to scream and jump in front of them to keep them from running into the road after it......grrrrr!

2- Aunt Flo or George as I like to call him is here to visit which makes standing outside in the wind even more pleasant.

3- We have tonight off from cookies and I am completly and totally having myself a couple Rum and Diet Dr. Peppers while I watch Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. ( I don't work tomorrow so it is all good)

4- This morning my daughter called me to tell me she forgot her lunch. No biggie I will run home and grab it for her and take it to her.  She does this every once in a while.
Except today I hear this
Kod: "but mom, I left it by the front door on the table by the couch and the dogs might get it!"
Me: Which lunch bag did you use?
Her: "the pink one"
Me: "oh crap"
(see the pink one is a pull string closure quite easily maneuvered when you have the pointy nose of a dachshund).
So I run home and sure enough the little sh$!s have consumed an eleven year olds entire lunch minus the lettuce of course. Oh they also didn't consume all the Jalapeno Cheetos must not like their food spicy?
I quickly scoop up the remains of the lunch bag and the packaging and the lettuce, telling them what naughty little turds they are (as they wag their tails so excited for the mid day visit from mom). Now I have to go get freaking Micky D's for my kid instead of the yummy chef salad and banana (and Jalepeno Cheetos) she had packed.

I can not wait to get home and see how well their stomach's digested their nutritious lunch *please dear lord let them make it until 3 o'clock ( so I don't have to go home and scrub floors and wash rugs)*

5- I encouraged Laura Belle to fart in public.

6- Today at work I have to write a letter to inform about 20 guys that they were overpaid in August on overtime and they have to send me a check for the amount they were overpaid. NOT FUN!

7- I am totally addicted to my phone...well um ok the game apps I have purposely installed on my phone.  Anyone want to play a game of words w/ friends or my new fav is Draw Free similar to pictionary.  It is so funny to see someone else interpret a word and how they draw it.  My favorite player is my little brother (he isn't a great speller so it is fun to watch him figure it out.) One person had the word Tyra like Tyra Banks and drew a tiara, needless to say I did not guess that one.

5- I have a sore in my nose that I have had for a really really long time that I am finally going to have checked next Tuesday. I hate it because boogies get all stuck in there and make me feel stuffy.....bleck I know TMI! hopefully it isn't anything serious and something they can fix.....fingers crossed!

9- My car is making a weird noise.  I think it is a hose but I am afraid to take it into the shop!!!

10- and for Draz, Holy Snot Balls I did it again made it all the way to ten.  I guess I did have something to say.  Thanks for humoring me and reading.  I hope you all get a chuckle! Hopefully if I don't have to many drinkey poo's tonight I will be back tomorrow for B.Y.O.C.

xoxoxoxoxo Have a great rest of your day!!

B.Y.O.C

1.  How do you feel about college?  If you have kids or siblings - will you encourage or require them to go?  How long did you go and what for?

I went to College.  I spent 4 years to get a 2 year degree.  I do not work in a field that has anything to do with my degree.  My degree was planned so I could be a stay-at-home-mom and only work part-time.  Well with a divorce under my belt I am now soul provider of my household, so I had to find something that would provide for us.  I would like my daughter to attend college but it is up to her.  I don't regret college even though I still have loans. I think it is a good learning experience.

2.  Pink or purple?  Coke or Pepsi?  Pen or pencil?  Cursive or printing?  Ketchup or mustard?

Pink.
Can I choose Diet Dr. Pepper? well that is my choice
Pen, but I go through pencil phases.
Printing
Oh so very much MUSTARD!

3.  If you could live in any generation - which one would it be?

I like the really olden days.  Petticoats and big poofy dresses.  Only if I could be a lady though.  I wouldn't want to live as a commoner.

4.  What do you sleep in?

A BIG t-shirt and panties.

5.  Repeat question - summarize your week!

It was a good week.  Finally getting over this stupid sinus infection.  Nearing the end of girl scout cookie time! YEAH! I am sooooo sick of GS Cookies.  If you need any let me know I still have 26 boxes in my car.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Easy Yummy Dinner

A while back Kodie tried Tilapia and really really liked it.  Ever since I have been trying to get up the courage to buy and cook some.  So last night I finally grew a pair prepared this yummy recipe.  I have seen it a couple of times and it looked so easy I thought what the heck!
photo from All Recipes.com

It was sooooo good.  It took about 10 minutes to make and we mowed it down!

I also baked/broiled asparagus and brussel sprouts.  Kodie once again didn't appreciate the brussel sprouts but she chewed it and swallowed it instead of spitting it out.

 Here is how I made the asparagus and brussell sprouts. Use what you will eat.

rinse and break off ends of asparagus (I like the skinniest asparagus I can find)
rinse then cut off the ends of the brussel sprouts then cut in half. (I had about 8-10)

spread them out on a baking sheet I lined mine with parchment paper to help with clean up.  Spray or drizzle olive oil over them. Sprinkle with some sea salt and onion salt.  Using the juice of half a lemon squirt it over the veggies. I sprinkled about 1/2 cup of parmesean cheese then I kind of stirred it around.  Place it in the oven at 350 degrees and I let them bake about 10 minutes before I turned on the broiler for the fish.  I then left the baking sheet in the oven while the fish broiled.

Kodie told me about 10 times that we have to make this again!  We try a lot of new recipes and this is for sure a keeper.  She told me we need to have this again like twice a month!  So funny.  Well next time I am at the grocery store I am stocking up on tilapia.  So quick easy and DELICIOUS!!!.

If you try it let me know what you think. Do you cook fish? What is your favorite recipe?

10 Things Thursday

Ok lovely lady Laura I am jumping on the bandwagon! I haven't blogged in a while and I am sure you have all missed reading my lame crap!

So thanks to Laura Belle at Beer Dogs and Getting Healthier. I am going to do 10 things Thursday, hmmm I hope I can think of 10 things.....

1. I made Kale Chips! they are so yummy.  Trust me I was a total skeptic but I took a moment in the produce section and purchased some Kale.  I told a guy at work and after we talked about it I told him I would bring some in for him to try.  They were a hit.  Almost everyone enjoyed them only one wouldn't try them and other than getting looks of are you trying to drug me (I work with law enforcement officers and the kale kinda looked like MJ, if you know what I mean). Ya dried leafy green subject was consumed by all.  I should mention Kodie spit it out.....oh well her loss, more for me!

2. I have had some funky dreams lately.  I only remember them a little bit but they involve co-workers and strange situations. (and no I am not partaking of any other green leafy substances besides kale).

3. I need to clean my house. Or better yet will somebody come clean my house.  I just have no motivation!!! bleck, I did scrub the toilet so there is that, but we need to sweep, mop and DUST!.  I need to wash Kodie's sheets.  What a slacker I am.  Maybe if Kodie helps me I will treat her to a movie this weekend?

4. I bought movie tickets for 50% off on eversave.com.  2 tickets for $14 not bad right! So I really want to go to the movies.  Problem is I want to see One for the Money with Katherine Heigl and I am not so sure it is appropriate for my 11 year old.....hmmm maybe I will go read the reviews.  I took her to see The Help! (am I a bad mom, for not screening more of the crap I let my kid watch?)

5. I had a date on Saturday!!  woohoo It was nice.  It was with someone I dated before so I am very hesitant.  Do I really want to try this again.  I told him that I was willing to try and "date" but go really really slowwww! not like last time we moved to fast to quick and it caused a lot of resentment on my part I felt like we were roommates.  He moved in really quick....long story but it had to do with my car situation at the time.  When I told my dad he said "really? he is so lazy".  My mom is cool with it just said be smart, and my sister said "why not!, we all like him and he is a really nice guy." so we will see.

6. Kodie finally got to talk to "Buddy" who is currently in Australia with his girlfriend for 3 months. and I was going to link a previous post where I tell about "buddy" but I can't find it....grrrr! anywho! Kodie skyped with them and as soon as she hung up she started sobbing.  She misses him so much.

7. Kodie finally got a present from her bio dad.  They bought her a 22" tv for her room.  Bought damn time is all I have to say about that.  4 years no birthday or Christmas presents!!! jerk!

8. I am finally getting my financial shiz together.  I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel thank you baby Jesus amen.  I just hope everything stays on track.  My luck something will happen.  and that would totally suck because.....

9. I am planning a trip to Disneyland with my family.  My sister's family and my mom are going.  It seemed like the perfect opportunity to slide in and have a really cheap way to get there.  A guy I work with is giving us buddy passes to fly.  We can stay with the rest of the fam-damnly. Thanks to Kodie's dad we can get military passes for a 3 day park hopper it is $99, we can get 6 so I am helping my sister and her family save some bucks too.  I am so excited but I haven't told Kodie yet.  I want to surprise her and if anything happens I don't want to disappoint her.  She has never been to Disneyland and I haven't been since I was 8.  any thoughts on ways to surprise her????

10. holy snot balls I had 10 things to say! ok so I am cheating on this last one.  I blogged though so that is a win right.  Think I might have to celebrate with an icy cold PBR, right Laura?

have a great day you loyal readers, I love reading your blogs and even though I haven't been blogging, I am still reading!!!

BYOC - Bring Your Own Crazy!

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for BYOC. Bring Your Own Crazy. We answer five questions in an effort to get to know each other better and to give our blogging brains a break. Copy and paste if you so desire and ENJOY!

1. Have you ever bought undies/bra/lingerie for someone else? Or has anyone ever bought them for you? How was the “experience”?

Hell to the no!  I would never buy lingerie for someone else.  I have never had anyone buy it for me.  I had a boyfriend try to buy me jammies once (nothing sexy) let's just say his eyes said large and my body says bring on the 2x baby.  It was very sweet though.

2. Do you have an internal song you replay in your head that is just yours?
not really not anything I can think of off the top of my head.

3. I heard on the news the other day that something like 80% of people think a tan person is way sexier than “not tan”. How do you feel about that? Do you tan? Fake bake? Real sun? Or do you wear SPF 150?
I love love love to be tan.  I try not to get sunburned though, especially my face.  I wear sunscreen when I will have the chance to get sunburned.  My legs are always stuck out there to see the lights.  I have a pool at my condo but I never go to the tanning beds.

4. Do you vote in the presidential election? Do you vote based on news, family opinions or research or your gut?
I vote in the presidential election and when I feel strongly about a local candidate but if I miss the vote I miss it.

5. Repeat question: Summarize your week in real life and in blog land.

I have posted (including this post) 3 times this week.  Pretty good for me!  Life is good! doing some clean living and focusing on my kiddo.  Life is good!!!

The New Doctor

I went to visit an Internist not a family practitioner.  When I got the appointment they did the usual, weight (down 10 pounds since last dr. visit), blood pressure, etc. The nurse asked me a bunch of questions and warned me that the Dr. has a thick russian accent and if I couldn't understand something she said to just let her know.
Enter this lady.
HECHT, MALGORZATA F, MD

She had already researched me.  Did you hear that people?  She had before I came in as a new patient gone in and already knew a ton about my medical history.

She took my blood, yep the doctor herself drew my blood, while she was talking to me and looking me over.  I said to her "I've never had a doctor take my blood"  she said it is faster and why make you wait for someone from the lab to come do it when I am qualified to do it myself.  She gave me a breast exam even though she knew I had just had a mammogram and knew it was normal.

They didn't even charge me, they billed it as a new patient consultation and there is no co-pay for that.  This was on Friday.  On Tuesday I received a letter from her office with my blood results and a personal note from her about what she wanted me to do, unlike the previous idiot  dr. that made me come back in for a follow-up appointment for the lab results 3 weeks later (and another $25 co-pay).

Dr. Hecht wants to see me every 3 months.  I also was referred to a diabetes class, which I have my appointment for.

Needless to say, I feel much better about my health care provider.  I think this Dr. actually gives a flying fart about me and not just the money, and get me in, get me out. I feel like with her help and my mindset I will be able to lose weight and get my health issues under control. Oh yeah and as of this morning I am down another 5 pounds!

Thanks everyone for your comments on my last doctor post.  It is good to hear other people's thoughts and personal experiences.

I'm still here!

I am alive and well.  I am really working on eating better.  I have some news about my new doctor that is so great.  We have been busy....doing what I am not sure just life in general.

My ex (who is like a dad to my kid) left for Australia for 3 months to live there with his girlfriend (I guess that is their plan for now) she was here for 3 months and now he is going there for 3 months.  Let's just say I have an 11 year old that is not very happy about it and there were tears shed by both when he had to say goodbye. : (

He bought her a ski pass but ran out of time before he had to leave to take her so he has arranged to have a buddy and his daughter take her.  She was also sad about that she really wanted to go skiing with "buddy".
The saddest part is if her dad had to go away for 3 months she would just say okay see ya when you get back (what a dink).

This last Saturday we attended the National Women and Girls in Sports day.  This is the 3rd annual and our second year attending.  It is such a great opportunity.
The four girls!
Each girl gets a t-shirt, backpack and water bottle.  It costs $10.50 but I was able to get Kodie in for free with a scholarship fund they have. (thank heavens then we were able to afford lunch before hand)

They have about 12 different "sport type" activities the girls get to select 3 in advance.  They have LaCrosse, Golf, Rock Climbing, Zumba, Yoga, etc.. Last year Kodie did rock climbing but didn't want to do that again she said it was to scary (from what I understand she did great until she knew I was watching and then chickened out) so this year she did Karate, Zumba, and swimming.

In Karate they taught them some basic self defense moves, and proper use of Karate.

in Zumba they just danced their tushies off. The mom in this picture has lost 50 lbs since last year at this time.  That is her daughter sulking by the wall she didn't want to do zumba.  I have no coordination and I have a stupid cough and I knew that if I started working out I would end up hacking up a lung.

The last activity was swimming I didn't get any pictures because it was really hot in the pool area and us mom's relocated to visiting area just outside and we bs'd

It was a super fun day!

Dumb Dumb Doctor

As I posted earlier I have been diagnosed with type II diabetes because I am a giant fat cow it runs in my family.  That is all! Like as in that is all I was told!!
~~~~~HEY LADY you have diabetes have a great day!~~~~
This doctor has me come in for a second visit to discuss a problem with my blood results.  Makes me wait 2 weeks because it wasn't urgent but they can't just tell me over the phone (money suckers).
So I go in kind of suspecting that is what it will be and she proceeds to tell me in an
"oh bummer sorry to be the bearer of bad news kind of way"
that I have diabetes but with medication I should be able to keep it under control.
I told her I was looking into Lap Band and she said that was a great idea.  Then she hands me a prescription, I am like well do I need to test my blood sugar? Oh, no! she says that is really for people that need insulin.....wtf?
Ok I know kind of how this works because it runs in my family and I am pretty sure I need to test my blood sugar like umm dailyish. Anyway she tells me to have a nice day and come back in 30-90 days to have my blood work checked again.
hmmm pshawww ya right dudette "miss professional I went to eight years of college to be an idiot that doesn't really give a damn".  We just met for the last time.
I contacted my insurance Healthy Utah Program and made an appointment (for 2 days later).  I went in and started the entire process all over again, except now I am on meds (cause I did fill the script) my blood sugar was normal when they tested me and they gave me an entire packet of information and help ideas, including phone numbers and websites.
I also made an appointment with an Internist
so that I can have someone who might actually care help me with this situation.
Now is it just me? or am I making a big deal about nothing?
