Don't tell me NO! when you don't KNOW!!!!

Talk about frustrating.  I like to stay positive on my blog.  This one is totally bugging me though.  For the last 2 days I have been given a head shake and the answer no from a know-it-all that has no idea what they are talking about.  When you find out what the real answer is then you come on over and let me know....

Easter Blessing

Well what a wonderful weekend, full of family, friends and blessings..... I am so lucky!

I stayed home cleaning my house and doing laundry on Friday.  My visiting teachers stopped by in the afternoon and Terry brought Kayla and Kylee over for dinner. Saturday we went and picked up Terry's girls and then headed over to get my sickie kid.  I missed my girl but it turned out she got a really bad cause of butterflies (to the point she was throwing up) at her dad's (she really isn't used to being there that long). We were headed to my mom's back on the other side of town and decided that by the time we drove over there and back that it was just a waste of gas.  We were supposed to help put the trampoline up and get the house ready for the Easter Celebration.  Since Kodie got sick we had to move things around, which did not make my mom one bit happy.  I try to do as she would like but I just never seem to make her happy......oh well! Many hours of counseling hasn't solved that problem so I am sure it won't be solved here either.

Anyway.

I got my girl all settled and comfy at my girlfriends house so we could help prepare the barbecue while everyone finished staining the wood trim and deck.(btw I was asked to participate in the staining and bbq before any help was requested by my mom).  Bets were made that Kod would be up and "healed" within 2 hours, yep my friends know my kid.  Poor thing being a sufferer of anxiety myself I know how it feels!  We dyed eggs and enjoyed some yummy food and great company.

On Sunday  Terry had to work so I got up with Kodie and made breakfast.  She was very happy to be home and super excited about her Easter basket.

Kodie and I walked to church services with the Walther Family.  We went to sacrament meeting and then went home to finish getting ready for Easter dinner. Terry finally got off work so we could make it to mom's (we were late, I got crap! and....)  but we were there.  It was nice to see everyone and enjoy the company of family.  I am very appreciative of the fact that we can all just meld together.  We had my sister-in-law's mom there, Terry's parents, brother, oldest daughter Amanda and added daughter Heidi, (Amanda's bff) my mom's siblings, my dad.  It is so great that we can all get together and get along so well.

Mailing the invitations

Invitations are ready to go out.  Addressed, stamped and sealed, I am cheating a little and handing out a lot of them at the Easter Celebration on Sunday at my mom's (so if you don't get one in the mail it is because I saved a stamp).
Here is the finished project:
Kodie Grace

I can't believe my little girl is 10 years old and making such a grown-up decision.  I am so proud of her!

missing my girl

It is spring break for Kodie, which is great for her but a bummer for me.  She has spent every night at my mom's with my sister and her kids.  I go over for a few hours after work but then leave her there because it is easier than waking her up at 6 to drive her over there and make it to work on time.

Tonight she is going to her dad's until Sunday (if she makes it).  So it will be my first Easter without her.  No Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, and dying eggs on Saturday without her : (

This is hard.  I have been spoiled all these years with her dad living in another state.  I have to be all tough because she doesn't really want to go either.  Terry will have his girls on Saturday so we will be doing the whole egg dying thing.  We are going over to a friends house with all their kids so that will help but it makes me sad that my girl is missing out.  I just hope that her dad and Erika do the same stuff with the kids while she is there.

The good news is I get her back by noon on Sunday and we will go to church together yay!  Of course she will have her Easter basket and then YAY we will go to my mom's for her annual Easter Celebration.  Then next Saturday my girl will be baptized she is so excited and I am nervous (there is a lot to do).

oh What fun....

So this is the week of Easter and we have a lot of things coming up in our lives.

First off let's start with the here and now.  Kod is on spring break this week, (lucky duck) and I am unfortunately not.  My sister is in town, and this could be nothing short of the great score for Kodie, because as I am slaving away each day at work my daughter gets to run rampant through the halls of my mom's house enjoying her cousins.  Waahoo.  Sunday we went to mom's for dinner (pork ribs, yummy....Doug's choice, don't know why he got to pick)  and we had Denille's friend and my dad and Doug and Mary and the kids all there.  It was a beautiful day and we all sat on mom's back porch enjoying her new outdoor furniture.  It is nice to just relax and enjoy the company of family and friends.  I am so grateful that my parents, although divorced can chill in each others company sure makes life easier on all of us.  (this was also a great example for me with my ex. (even though he still makes me want to go grrrr. sometimes)).

Yesterday, was just a plain old icky day.  I knew if I came on line to blog I would end up venting something I would regret and then have to delete it and hope no one read it.  So I am here today anticipating my lunch hour (even though I have to go to the DMV) because the sun is shining.  So although all my troubles of yesterday didn't dissipate with the rain I am putting my chin up and my best foot forward and remembering that positive is always the better attitude to have, and it could be worse...........

Ruth's Diner up Emigration Canyon.  Porch dining area.

River ready to burst at the seams.....
This is my first entry in regards to our week....more to come.

what to blog

So in my new obsession with blogging I was reading another blog about how to blog.
The Pioneer Woman  (I love her blog) she said:
#1- be yourself!
#2- blog often
and a whole bunch of other things but these are the two that stood out the most to me.
So I am trying to take her advice.  #1 be yourself, check I mean this is me people!  #2 blog often, ummm ok bloggy lady what if nothing happened?  What if myself has nothing interesting to say.....anywho.  I digress....

Last night we went over to Terry's mom and dad's and had dinner yummy "enchilada's" (that's what they called them, but it reminded me more of a Navajo Taco but on a flour tortilla (I don't know something about the flavor and the fixin's)).  We watched Minute to Win It with Heidi, and Amanda.  Then we went home I tucked the rug rat into bed and watched Survivor on the DVR.  Rob you are a sneaky buggar and if you win I will vote you the Ultimate Survivor.  Then I played my Cafe' World and went to bed.  FUN huh!
The life of me, short and sweet.

So take me or leave me.  I posted on my blog today and remained my sarcastically silly self.

Hope someone enjoys.........................

Other Blogs

I have become blog OBSESSED.  I love to read blogs, I have begun to follow a few that I really enjoy.  I think the ones that are updated regularly are my fav.  I love to get a little glimpse of people's lives.  I like when I find someones blog that is from Utah.  I think hmm do I know them?  Have I ever seen them?  They are like my age, maybe we went to school together..... I know silly but I think it is cool.

I like to see pictures and read updates about their......oh wait this is kind of creepy.  I am like a blog stocker!  Well I  guess they are putting it out there publicly so they probably don't mind (and I promise I won't just show up on your doorstep.)

Another fun part about reading blogs is all the great recipes like this one from The Pioneer Woman, malted milk chocolate-chip-cookies and this one for a fun craft Plastic Easter Egg Craft at Make and Takes

Here are some of my favorite blogs
Nailing Jello to a Tree
Real Mom Kitchen

a lot of the blogs I have started reading are from links of other blogs I like.  It is fun to just cruise around blog world and see what interests you.  You never know what you might find.

Salt Lake Grizzly Game........or well umm????

So last Friday we were headed to the Grizzly game and when we got there they didn't have seats together and of course we didn't want to sit apart.  I pulled out my little coupon wallet and found $5 unlimited ride passes for Hollywood Connection which is located right across the street.  So off we went to hang in the hood of WVC and play like kids.

Kylee and Dalton
We all rode the Carousel.....weeeee

Kayla

Amanda and Kayla
This was actually taken upside down.  I was in the seat in front of them and snapped a few pictures while we were on the Roller Coaster......ooooh!  I can't believe I managed to hold on to the camera....j.k this is the wimpiest roller coaster ever.  In comparison about as lame as "Puff" at Lagoon.

Aww Cute

It was a really, very scary "roller coaster"

Kickin' it on Mini Golf Course
We played mini golf all 18 holes.....hey it was something to do.

After mini golf we were going to go skating but, you have to understand this is the ultimate tween hangout for West Valley and they actually set up bleachers in the middle of the rink so they can do whatever tween's find fun to do?  So we shared some fries and chicken strips in the cafe.

By then it was well past my pumpkin hour and the Grizzly Game had ended so we missed that traffic.

All in all it was fun.  I feel bad my bug wasn't able to be there, she was at her dad's (shhh I still haven't told her cause I know she would be so bummed that she missed it).

Thanks Terry, Amanda, Kayla, and Kylee it was fun spending time being silly with you!

30 THINGS GUYS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT GIRLS

30 THINGS GUYS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT GIRLS: This was written by a guy who has had years of experience.

1. whatever you do, don’t just show up at their house…they run around in their underwear just like we do.

2. don’t cheat on them. it may seem foolproof, but girls tell each other everything about everything. trust me, they will find out and you will be mud.

3. beware of every single male relative and all guy friends. any of them would kick your ass at the drop of a hat, and a lot of them wouldn’t even wait for the damn hat.

4. never miss an opportunity to tell them they’re beautiful.

5. don’t refuse to kiss in front of your friends. if they laugh at you, it’s because they’re jealous.

6. if they slap you hard, you deserved it.

7. don’t be afraid to touch them if you want to. if they’re going out with you in the first place, it’s because they like being in your arms.

8. if you don’t sleep with them, do not tell your friends that you did. 8.5 if you do sleep with them, don’t tell your friends that you did.

9. you can be dirty minded in private, really…most of them are not offended by it…

10. not all of them eat like birds, a lot of them can eat like whales.

11. most of them don’t mind paying half of everything, but they do discuss these things with their friends. realize that if you make your girlfriend pay half all the time, everyone will know about it and your friends will know you’re a pussy..do you honestly need all your money that much? be a man, pay all the time!

12. every girl should eventually get three things from her boyfriend- a stuffed animal, one of his sweatshirts, and a really pretty ring. even if it’s not a serious relationship.

13. make sure she gets home safely as often as you can. if you’re dropping her off, walk her to the door. if you aren’t dropping her off, call to be sure she’s home safely.

14. if a guy is bothering her, it is your right to beat the shit out of him.

15. if you’re talking to a female friend of yours, pull your girlfriend closer.

16. never, ever slap her, even if it’s just in a joking way. even if she swats you first, and says, “oh, you’re so dumb” or something, never make any gestures back.

17. go to a chick flick once in a while. she doesn’t care whether you enjoy it or not, it just matters that you went.

18. you’re dead meat if you can’t get along with their pets, parents, and best friends. be prince charming to their friends, mr. polite to their parents, and make sure to be nice to their animals.

19. don’t flirt with their moms…that’s just freaky.

20. don’t be freaked out by pms. it’s not gross, and it really does make them feel like shit, so be understanding.

21. if you don’t like the way they drive, you do it.

22. if you’re officially dating, and you’re introducing her to your friends, you’d better damn well introduce her as your girlfriend.

23. don’t stress where you go for every date. they really only want to be with you.

24. if they complain that something hurts, rub it for them without being asked.

25. girls are fragile. even if you’re play fighting/wrestling, be very gentle.

26. memorize their god damn birthdays. you forget her birthday and you’re basically screwed for life.

27. don’t marinade the cologne, but smell good.

28. don’t give her something stupid for her birthday or christmas or valentine’s day. it doesn’t have to be expensive, but it has to be meaningful. jewelry is always nice.

29. if you think the relationship isn’t going to last, don’t wait to find out. it will only hurt you more if you draw it out.

30. after you’ve been dating for a while, realize that they really have started to trust you. when you have a girlfriend who truly trusts you, you have a lot more responsibility, privilege and control than you would think. be careful with it, most guys would kill for that kind of power, and it can be lost in a nanosecond.

My Fantabulous Kid!

I have an amazing kid.  My daughter is growing up so fast and becoming so responsible.....ok ok, I know she is only 10 and there are many good times ahead ((spoken with a hint of sarcasm)due to the teenage years are just around the corner).  I have been a single parent for a long time, granted I have a great support system and I don't know what I would do without them but as far as the parenting and raising of this child I feel I get a lot of credit.

Today she called me when she got home from school and I told her she needed to clean the Guinea Pig cage,  I said the dishwasher needs to be emptied and she said "ok".  I also asked her to take the puppies out to potty, she said "I already did".

When I went home for a late lunch she was tucked up on the couch in the snuggie and she said I already emptied the dishwasher.  I just said thank you, because there was no need to lecture the cage will be clean when I get home.

I am so very lucky to have such a super awesome little girl.......what a blessing!

that's my girl!

Egg Dillemma Solved.......I think?

Ok so I tested the eggs.  First of all you need to know that to just eat an egg is not one of my most favorite things.  I will eat them, but there are so many many things I would rather have for breakfast.

I boiled 2 eggs, I boiled them eggsactly the same (hahaha).  Then I cooled them and peeled them, then I took pictures, then I sprinkled them with a little salt and pepper and taste tested.  The difference was to say the least minimal.

As you can tell by the picture one egg was bigger than the other.  The one on the right was a little more rubbery in texture but other than that they were pretty much the same.

It is fine though, even if it is all in my head.  I think I will continue to splurge on the organic eggs just for the point of better treatment of the hens and no added steroids and such.   I think I will try farm fresh eggs next.  I mean if I have to eat the little buggers I might as well find a way to enjoy it.
